Housed in a former Carnegie Library building in downtown Chico, the Chico
Museum has hosted more than 90 exhibits celebrating the distinct heritage
of Chico since it opened in February 1986.
Currently the Chico Musem is closed in preparation for the opening of the Chico Circus Town Exhibit opening on October 6th, 2008 and running through Fathers Day, June 21st, 2009. The opening follows the ever popular Museum Night Out. Chico Museum's Night Out has grown so much that this year we're going upstairs to the Sierra Nevada Bigroom. After 9 years in the Taproom, the sit down dinner and live auction goes to the stage. For more information about both the Night Out festivities and Chico Circus Town exhibit, please go the Far West Heritage site.
This summer has seen a lot of changes in the Far West Heritage operation. Chico Museum's return from The Turner exhibits, a new Curator, a new Executive Director and the installation of four new board members filling the ranks to capacity. In addition, the complete Patrick Ranch Collection, the Far West offices and Chico Museum's Exhibit History Collection packed up and moved into it's newer and larger location at the Chico Municipal Airport. 270 Boeing is the new home with the offices in front in Suite 1, and secure, climate controlled collection vaults through to 4.
